Board of Management

The Board of Management is the governing body of St. John’s National School and manages the school on behalf of the patron, the Catholic Bishop of Kerry. Boards of Management of primary schools are appointed for a four-year term and include representatives of the patron together with nominees of the parents, teachers and wider community.

The Board works in partnership with the principal, staff and school community to support the effective running of the school. In carrying out its work, the Board adopts a child-centred approach and seeks to ensure that the school is managed in a manner that supports the well-being, learning and development of all pupils.

The Board is accountable to the patron and the Minister for Education. It is responsible for upholding the ethos of the school, while also having regard for the effective use of resources, the public interest, and accountability to pupils, parents and the wider community.
