Kenyan Education Project Speaker March 2017
On Thursday 2nd March 2017, Eddie Sheehy from the Kenyan Education Project came to speak to our 6th class pupils about the work they carry out in the African country to help improve the lives of the people there.
The children were shown a presentation on the work done to date and where the money raised is going.
Eddie told the children that the money raised previously has helped to build classrooms for schools and to buy furniture for the schools that previously had none. Also in 2016 the project continued to provide sponsorship for 50 students to attend primary and secondary school. Money was also allocated to the parish feeding programme ‘The Good Samaritan’ to help pay food bills and repair the kitchen for cooking food.
Mr. Sheehy thanked St. Johns N.S. for their generosity to date and the presentation really brought to life the difference our donation is making!
The school hopes to continue raising funds for the project with a non uniform day later in the year! Thanks for the very informative presentation Eddie!
