St. John’s National School Digital Initiative

A big thank you to the 30 Parents, members of the Board of Management, Parent’s Association and Teaching Staff who attended our first Digital Initiative Meeting on Wednesday, November 7th.

Many thanks also to our Guest Speaker, Terry O’Sullivan, Director of Tralee Education Centre and former Principal of Blennerville National School where a very successful smart phone initiative took place during the last school year.

Highlights of the meeting include:
• Publishing of our Pupil and Parent Surveys on smart phones (See results in next post).
• Commitment to continue to offer upskilling to Parents and Pupils on Internet Safety.
• Scheduling of individual meetings for Parents of 4th, 5th and 6th classes to formulate a practical response/initiative in relation to smart phone internet usage in their class setting.

The first meeting will be for Parents of 4th Class Pupils on Wednesday, November 21st at 7.30p.m. in St. John’s National School.

There will be further information on our Digital Initiative in the coming weeks.

A great start to a very worthwhile and vitally important project.  Well done all!

Below are the results of both our Pupil and Parent smartphone surveys. Please take the time to read the data in relation to your child’s class. Thank you!

Team Hope Shoebox Appeal, 2018

Team Hope Shoebox Appeal, 2018

Once again, St. John’s took part in the Team Hope Shoebox Appeal. This year, there was a total of 145 boxes collected! Well done and a big thank you to everyone who took part in the campaign!

Team Hope delivers over three million shoeboxes annually to children in some of the remotest and poorest parts of the world, to children who think they have been forgotten about. But your kindness shows them that they haven’t. Thank you to all those who helped fill the boxes and give those less fortunate than ourselves a chance to smile this Christmas!
