Road Safety Juniors February 2020

Ms. Costello’s and Ms. Iver’s Junior Infants were very busy this week learning all about Road Safety. They learned about the Safe Cross Code and how important it is to be seen when out cycling and walking. They even practised crossing the road safely using all the skills that they learned. Well done boys and girls! 👏🥰

Mr. Morley 6th Class Bizworld Project

Mr. Morley’s 6th class were treated to a business workshop by fellow Kerry footballer Shane Enright from Bank Of Ireland, last Thursday and Friday. Shane was brilliant with the students and organised a fantastic BizWorld presentation over the two days.
The children learned about different types of businesses, products, entrepreneurs, roles within businesses, slogans, marketing and costs that have to be undertaken to create a business.

The class were then split into different groups and the groups created their own ‘business’ and ‘product’. Each member of the group had a different role such as Director of Finance; Director of Marketing etc. The students also created TV ads, powerpoints, posters, business cards and fliers for their business.

On Friday a Dragon’s Den scenario was created when two dragons came to the school to ‘buy’ percentages of the children’s companies. The class were thrilled to find another Kerry footballer and All Star David Clifford as one of the dragons, alongside Mairéad O Leary from the Killarney branch of the Bank of Ireland.

Overall it was a fantastic two day workshop for the children and hopefully some great entrepreneurial minds have been created and nurtured. Many thanks to Shane, David and Mairead for the informative few days!

Team Hope 2019

Thank you to all who took part in the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2019 in St. John’s. Once again you have gone above and beyond!

Team Hope delivers over three million shoeboxes annually to children in some of the remotest and poorest parts of the world, to children who think they have been forgotten about. But your kindness shows them that they haven’t. Thank you to all those who helped fill the boxes and give those less fortunate than ourselves a chance to smile this Christmas!

Climate Action Week 2019

Climate Action Week runs from October 14th to 20th, 2019 in association with Green Schools Ireland.  To celebrate this, we invited Devin O’Sullivan from www.feastireland.net to give a presentation to students from 3rd to 6th Class.  The presentation was very inspiring and focussed on the causes and effects of Climate Change and how simple actions can make all the difference.  Thank you to Devin for the very informative and interesting workshop.  We look forward to putting the knowledge to good use this year.
